Bihar Board Class 10th English Syllabus

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Class 10 English syllabus aims to enhance reading, writing, grammar, and literature skills. Key components include:

  • Reading (Comprehension): Unseen passages and poems to improve understanding.

  • Writing Skills: Paragraph writing, letter writing, and essay writing.

  • Grammar: Tenses, voice, narration, and sentence structure.

  • Literature: Prose, poetry, and drama from the textbook.

The Chapter include (Chapter-wise):

1. Reading Comprehension (20 Marks)

  • Unseen Passages: Students will be presented with two unseen passages:

  • One factual passage (approximately 200 words)
    One literary passage (approximately 300 words)

  • Comprehension Questions: A variety of questions will be asked to assess understanding, including:

2. Writing (20 Marks)

  • Essays on various topics, such as social issues, current events, personal experiences, etc.

3. Grammar and Translation (20 Marks)

  • Grammar:

  • Tenses

  • Voice (active and passive)

  • Narration (direct and indirect speech)

  • Parts of speech

  • Sentence structure and correction

  • Translation:

  • Translation of simple sentences from English to Hindi and vice versa

4. Textbooks (40 Marks)

  • Prose:

  • Questions based on the prescribed prose lessons, including:

  • Character analysis

  • Theme identification

  • Plot summary

  • Understanding of literary devices

  • Poetry:

  • Questions based on the prescribed poems, including:

  • Understanding of poetic devices (e.g., metaphors, similes, imagery)

  • Analysis of themes and messages

  • Appreciation of poetic language
